Course Information: Chelmsford is an all weather (Polytrack) course, which is somewhat unique having the grandstand in the centre of the track. It hosts all-weather fixtures all year round under floodlights. It is oval in shape, left-handed and has a circumference of around a mile. The seven-furlong and one-mile races start from different chutes.
It has wide, sweeping turns and a long straight which suits long striding galloping types. Due to this races are usually run at pace and it can be difficult to make up ground and come from behind. There is a definite draw bias with not many winners coming from the second half of the draw.
