Aintree Racecourse

Course Information:

Aintree has two courses: The easier, but still stiff, Mildmay course, which is oval in shape and has birch fences. And the world-famous Grand National course, which is triangular. At the very top of the course is the Canal Turn, which is the furthest point away from the viewing stands. 

The Grand National race is run over two complete circuits of the National course and has sixteen spruce fences during the first circuit and fourteen during the second, and provides one of the toughest tests ever devised for horse and jockey. The run-in to the winning post is 494 yards long and includes an elbow.
