Course Information: Epsom Racecourse is a left-handed horseshoe-shaped track, one and a half miles in distance. It is renowned for its pronounced undulations and testing cambers and is very often described as a "rollercoaster". Key features include a steep ascent for the first half mile, followed by a fast downhill sweep at Tattenham Corner, then the ground rises again for the final furlong. The straight 5-furlong races are downhill all the way and are widely considered to be the world's fastest.

The course characteristics very much favour handy horses that like to be ridden prominently and can go through the gears when required. The course is thought to be similar to a Polytrack, so horses with form on all-weather courses should be noted.
