Course Information: Chelmsford is an all-weather (Polytrack) course, which is somewhat unique, having the grandstand in the centre of the track. It hosts all-weather fixtures all year round under floodlights. It is oval in shape, left-handed and has a circumference of around a mile. The seven-furlong and one-mile races start from different chutes.
It has wide, sweeping turns and a long straight, which suits long striding galloping types. Due to this, races are usually run at a pace, and it can be difficult to make up ground and come from behind. There is a definite draw bias, with not many winners coming from the second half of the draw.
